Today I am thankful for...

Welcome to my gratitude blog, which was formerly my 365 project (posts 5/30/10 - 5/30/11). I will continue posting 10 things for which I am grateful to help me (and maybe you too) stay positive.

Here's to optimism, gratitude, and all the simple pleasures of life :)

My itty-bitty kitchen

I’m blogging AGAIN because I am having such a dandy time in my little dorm-apartment in Northridge. I finished my review for my exam tomorrow and baked chocolate chip cookies for the Private’s family, whom I will be seeing this weekend. I was a little uncertain at first because the oven didn’t have an indicator of preheating or a light/window… but I put faith into Nestle Tollhouse and the cookies turned out fine :) Roommate can testify. With milk.

I love this little kitchen. It’s tiny and old, but it’s ours for sharing and there are already plenty of memories in it after just 2 weeks of meeting the sweetest (and cleanest) group of roommates I’ve ever had. It’s also nice to be cooking for myself again (the usual - mixed vegetable rice, chicken teriyaki & edamame, and more PB & J than anyone can imagine). We share a shelf in the cabinet for cereal, and you can see each girl’s giant jar of peanut butter on each of our respective shelves :P

I absolutely love my roommate. She is going to be a freshman this fall and she is in love with history. She is so friendly and sweet. She also enjoys my cooking :D We walk to class together in the morning on the days that I have lab.

There’s also another soon-to-be freshman who’s on the basketball team. She’s great at providing comic relief when I’m about to slam my face into my textbook. She is so genuine and spirited.

I don’t know my last roommate as well because she’s out a lot, but she is also very friendly and pro-equality when it comes to taking care of the apartment. I really appreciate that because we know that wasn’t the case during my last living situation XP (also happy to report that this apartment is free of cat piss and feces).

I am truly blessed to be living with such nice girls, even if it’s only for 6 weeks. Nice and compatible people are so hard to find, but down here I am surrounded by them. I’m enjoying this summer detour much more than I had thought I would (I’ll save another post for my CLASSMATES). Beautiful weather, kind souls, and a new adventure everyday. This is the summer life.
