Today I am thankful for...

Welcome to my gratitude blog, which was formerly my 365 project (posts 5/30/10 - 5/30/11). I will continue posting 10 things for which I am grateful to help me (and maybe you too) stay positive.

Here's to optimism, gratitude, and all the simple pleasures of life :)

Autumn

Autumn is my favorite season. Did I ever mention that? I love the brisk weather, the scarves, the pumpkin spice lattes, and feeling safe and warm in my bed at night. Most of all, I love the explosion of red, orange, and gold EVERYWHERE. Well, not everywhere… I did enjoy some color explosion at the park with Lucy today, though :D

I was going through my point-and-shoot this afternoon and realized that a whole mess of photos from senior year of undergrad were still on there - all the way back to the IFYC conference in D.C. Now that place was exploding with fall colors. I miss the east coast. I can’t believe it’s been over a year since all that happened. It’s kind of weird blogging now and thinking about how easy it is to compare now to exactly one year ago. I guess that’s some interesting aftermath from my 365 project.

Now I’m flying through PT school and free of grievance from any sort of relationship, thank goodness. I’m also not wondering if I’m going to die in a car accident on an icy road. It’s a nice feeling.

OH. GOOD NEWS.

So I bake a lot… but for some reason I could NEVER get a pumpkin pie right (even if it came straight from the can of Libby’s pumpkin puree). Chemistry turned against me and the filling just wouldn’t solidify. Two years in a row I ruined the pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I did a practice run in Stockton a couple of days ago, and it was successful. Today I did it again (and bought a frozen pie as a backup for tomorrow). No need for backup! The pie turned out smelling delicious (and looking solidified), AND I busted out the fancy ass leaf crust again. Bonus awesomeness: the crust isn’t as messy as last year. Pumpkin pie success! :D
