Music ministry
I could… study or go to sleep. NAH, I feel like eating peanut butter cheese crackers and blogging!
Tonight’s Mass was special. It was the last Sunday of Ordinary Time before we go into Advent.. AND… the last time I’ll ever hear this version of the Roman Missal. At the end of Mass, Father Boxer said, “This will be the last time you’ll ever hear this!” And then it really hit me. I was baptized Catholic as a baby and I’ve been saying “And also with you” whenever Father says “Peace be with you” as far as I can remember. I guess it’s interesting to experience a change like this within my lifetime, but it’s weird because I’ve literally been saying these things at church my whole life. Now someone put the word “consubstantial” in our creed and I don’t know how I feel about that!!!
Anyway, Music Coordinator went all out for this Mass. We busted out the organ, had two trumpets, one flute, help from another parish for vocals, and a viola in addition to two violins. Oh yeah, and me on the guitar :) I am absolutely honored to be playing guitar for Music Coordinator’s Mass parts that he wrote. The music was great and I was really happy to see everyone. Seeing (or hearing) the music ministers bring their talent to church every week always inspires me to be a better Catholic :)
I’m so happy to still be in Stockton… these Sundays really make it worth it.
- Bomb pancake breakfast for a classmate’s birthday!
- Soup lunch for CV’s belated birthday (21 whoohoo!)
- Oh oh - going to Roomie & Bear’s engagement party last night
- Seeing the two families and catching up
- All the memories of seeing them build their relationship - from hanging out in our freshman dorm to the proposal the summer after graduation
- Proof that this sort of love exists :)
- Cheese peanut butter crackers
- Being able to help at church
- Someone letting me know that my voice makes a difference
- NO 8AM CLASS TOMORROW
